Bakersfield, California — August 9, 2013 — Shadow Galley Media announces their Kickstarter campaign for there new project in development, LUMIN, for iOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms. This is the first major release by Shadow Gallery Media and will be made available to the public for free this October.

“In a land without color how far will one girl go to save it… and herself.”

THE STORY SO FAR…

LUMIN is a retro inspired side scrolling platform game about one girls journey to bring color back into her world. The player takes control of Katelyn Demissio, a young girl, as she journeys into the Kingdom of Lumin to rid the land of ‘The Grey’, restore color to the kingdom, and rescue the royal family. Of course, nothing is so straight forward and we soon learn prior to the games start that Katelyn is a lost member of the royal Lumin family who was taken from the kingdom by former master-at-arms Demissio during ‘The Grey’s’ invasion. On his deathbed Demissio reveals Katelyn’s true heritage and she sets out to save her family and bring color back to LUMIN. Many surprise twists and turns will be revealed during the games progression that will keep the player on their toes and wanting to see what comes next.

The game takes its design style from the classic art of such systems as the Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Master System, and Commodore 64. Some of the current art is a placeholder, and will be replaced with final 8-bit inspired pixelated sprites in the near future. The most obvious addition will be Katelyn herself with her sprites currently going through final approval along with the varied enemies that will change along with with each level. Much of what you see in our demo is engine test work showing what LUMIN can do running on multiple platforms. Much of the generic tiles (floors, walls, boxes, backgrounds) are there as early placeholders of their final pixelated designs to help test out functionality of the game world, but will end up being much more detailed in the games release.

The story of Katelyn’s adventure in LUMIN will be told through opening level narratives done in a comic panel style like those in our videos opening. We will also have in-game NPCs both interactive (That will guide the player) and non-interactive (that will help fill the world). The story elements will quickly move the story along and can easily be moved forward with a simple touch of the screen so you as the player will not have to sit through cut-scenes every single play-through.
