Dann Kriss Games’ Kickstarter Re-launch of CTHULHU: The Great Old One Card Game has funded with time to spare!

Cthulhu: The Great Old One, the new quick-play card game by Dann Kriss Games which takes its players on a journey through the characters and writings of horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, has surpassed its crowd-funding goal on Kickstarter.com, fresh on the heels of Dann’s previous campaign, a trio of Lovecraft-inspired Bicycle decks, which was tremendously successful, garnering almost $60,000 in pledges.
The new project “CTHULHU: The Great Old One Card Game and Bicycle Deck” launched on Kickstarter.com at Midnight on Jan. 31st and will end on March 2nd at 11:59 pm. The project has already reached its initial funding goal and is currently working toward unlocking various project Stretch Goals. Dann attributes the newfound success of Cthulhu: The Great Old One to the overwhelming support he receives from his Kickstarter backers, or as he calls them, his “team”.
Designed for 2 to 8 players, ages 8 and up, the card game is easy to learn, and can be set up and played in roughly 15 minutes. Each card features hand-painted artwork by gothic fantasy artist Ian Daniels; printed on Tarot-sized cards to better highlight these fresh interpretations of characters from the weird tales of H.P. Lovecraft, part of DKG’s Lovecraft’s Legacy series! The game features 80 cards printed on high-quality gaming stock (black-core) with an additional 10 cards available through project stretch goals and special offers.
In addition to depicting many classic monsters and characters from Lovecraft’s writings, Dann and Ian have decided to pay tribute to a handful of real-world figures who’ve had a major role in spreading HPL’s influence by capturing their likeness’ as characters featured within the game. The “Rlyeh Rising” Limited Edition Bicycle Playing Card Deck was added to the project after a mountain of backer requests following the tremendous popularity of the Cthulhu-themed Bicycle decks DKG released for the company’s second Kickstarter campaign in Oct. 2013. Custom Bicycle decks printed by the United States Playing Card Company have a very strong following on Kickstarter.com and Dann is very excited about the new deck featuring themes of Cthulhu’s sunken city of R’lyeh. The deck includes the standard 52 cards, two jokers and two gaff cards; all feature custom suit symbols with artwork from the card game .
