The Lost Princess is a feature film documentary exploring the daily life of Chao Duangduen Na Chiang Mai, a princess without a kingdom.
Chao Duangduen Na Chiang Mai was raised in the palace as a granddaughter of Chao Kaew Navarat, the last king of Lanna, the kingdom that mainly comprises of the northern part of Thailand, some parts of Eastern Myanmar and some parts of Western Laos.
Today, this Kingdom no longer exists. Its main part have long merged with Thailand. At 88 years old, Chao Duangduen Na Chiang Mai strongly believes that she is a princess and acts like if it was still the case.
Since few years, she suffers from Alzheimer disease and her symptoms makes her living even more in her past.
The princess spend most of her time in her house. She lives in a sort of bubble, without much interaction to the outside world unless when her admirers visit her or when she is invited for an inauguration.
Because she has been through many things in her life, her strength has built up a personality that we could compare to a sculpture. An icon of marble who does not show emotions but respected by admirers at the same time.
This documentary will try to understand why people love this sculpture and how does this iconic woman deals with this admiration.
This is a small budget film and it is mostly self-funded, however, it is not enough, and we need YOUR help. Filmmaking is expensive, but we want to deliver to the audience and to our collaborators the best quality possible for the end product of the film.
In addition, Nakrob Moonmanas, a renowned Thai Artist is involved since the beginning of the project and will design poster and postcard as a reward for your contribution.
