San Jose, California – On September 16th, Mariposa Productions launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign with the mission to save Burbank Theater from foreclosure and turn it into a creative and performing center for the local community. The company, Mariposa Productions, was founded and is owned by Sharise Parviz, a performance arts teacher who has worked for the last few years to bring the arts to Silicon Valley.
“We envision turning this old Cinema from the Golden Age of Film into a place where new actors, dancers, and artists can train and perform, a place where patrons can enjoy a level of intimate artistry that you can only achieve in small venues of 30 seats up to 175 seats.” – Sharise Parviz, founder of Mariposa Productions
The Indiegogo campaign will help fund the acquisition of the property, prevent it from being foreclosed on, and restore it’s Art Deco style. Restorations will include new tiling, fixing broken glass and lighting, installing security cameras, and repairing the Burbank Sign.
In exchange for pledging support to the crowdfunding campaign, backers will receive rewards or perks including a victory poster of the theater and limited edition t-shirts, ball caps, and handbags. Premium backers will also have the chance to have their name on various plaques that will be placed around the theater to showcase the individuals’ support and the support of businesses in the community.
“Refurbishing and Improving this old cinema to be a place where the live events in music, dance, comedy, and film can be held is the primary mission of Mariposa Productions. This is a place where upcoming art students can learn and then perform for audiences.” – Sharise Parviz, founder of Mariposa Productions
The Indiegogo fundraising campaign will run until October 16th, during which time members of the community and people around the world can pledge their support to revamp the BurBank Theater. For more information, contact the creators of the campaign below or check it out here.
