22 veterans take their lives daily. Approximately 55,000 veterans are homelessness on a given night. 1.4 million veterans are at risk of homelessness. This must stop. The Veterans Healthcare System is an understaffed and overwhelmed organization. In some places getting an appointment takes weeks to months.
We want to raise awareness not only in the community but among veterans themselves. Many, unfortunately, are unaware of the programs, options, or organizations available to help them. We want will be the bridge between that and raise some money to help these men and women. So, if it’s just letting them know their options or just giving someone an ear to listen to them or an understanding shoulder to cry on, we will be there.
Why a monster truck? Well, no one is doing it and the monster truck community is a platform or resource that is not being used. The monster truck community is one of the most veteran friendly you can find. To get the word out within that community and its fans, is tapping into a nationwide resource. I have not been to a monster truck event yet where veterans were not recognized. Plus it is a conversation starter and a huge attention grabber. It is a piece of machinery that is about 12 ft. tall, 12 ft. wide and 20 ft. long. It weighs 10,000 lbs. and sits on 66 inch tires. All while putting out around 1500 horsepower. That attention is what we need to draw people in to get our message out. We would like to produce merchandise unique to the event, organization, group, or program, where the all money made from sales minus the cost to produce the merchandise and any applicable taxes will go to those organizations, groups, or programs as a donation to continue helping veterans.
