Kitchen aid designed to cut through information overload
Cheat Sheet keeps measurements, cooking times close at hand
October 1, 2014
South Bend, IN – This may be the Information Age, but too much information can be a bad thing — just ask inventor Alek Karpovs. Alek’s attempts to cook dinner at the right temperature with the right measurement conversions proved tiresome when he had to scroll online looking for the information he needed.
“While I scrolled and scrolled, dinner was burning on the stove,” Karpovs said. “I realized I’m not the only one who needs an easy-to-see reference in the kitchen, something quick and convenient.”
So he invented one. The Kitchen Cheat Sheet features measurement conversions, safe food storage practices and safe and proper cooking temperatures all printed on an 8-inch wide, 11-and-a-half-inch high magnet that can be easily placed on a refrigerator or any magnetic surface.
The Kitchen Cheat Sheet Kickstarter campaign launched this morning with a crowdfunding goal of $3,000, which will fund the first inventory order of 300 Kitchen Cheat Sheets. This will keep the kitchen aid’s price at an affordable $10 each, with additional sheets only $8 each.
In addition to crowdfunding, Karpovs is looking for input on the Kitchen Cheat Sheet’s design. Although the current design features a wood-grain background with colorful touches, the inventor will take into account any suggestions from donors and may incorporate them into the Kitchen Cheat Sheet’s final design, called crowdsourcing. Graphic Designer McKi Kistler of South Bend designed the original.
