My name is Toby Reynolds, and I am a Co-Founder of Kino Fitness and current student at The Ohio State University. In my junior year of high school, a few buddies and I were working out when we began discussing the frustrating topic of mobile fitness apps today. We found that each of us were paying an expensive subscription for mediocre workouts once or twice a week.

The question was, why weren’t there any free, premium fitness apps out there? The truth is, the giant corporations who have monopolized the mobile fitness market are more focused on making money, rather than fitness journey their users are on. This is where the idea of Kino was born.

Kino was designed to solve the annoying problems users face when trying to use fitness apps on their phones. Along with providing professional-grade workouts, activity metric tracking (step counters), and a user-friendly interface all at no cost to the user – Kino is bringing innovative technology to fitness, to revolutionize the way we do & think about fitness.

Kino’s innovation lies in our technology & technological use cases. Kino is changing the way we see progression in our fitness journeys, through 3D body scans, directly from your phone. What used to be technology only accessible through large, expensive machines, Kino is making accessible to the average person. These 3D body scans help our users see change in their bodies’ down to the hundreth of an inch, making fitness less subjective and more of an exact science. Think about the time you could save… Knowing what workout/meal plans work for you faster, saving you time. And potentially more importantly, understanding what habits aren’t contributing to your goals, allowing you to switch your strategy on how you are trying to progress through your fitness goals.

Secondly, Kino is bringing gamifcation to fitness. Gamification is an innovative user experience modification that allows us to make fitness more exciting & more engaging. Yes, we know that sounds weird, but our application makes it work. Kino utitlizes the power of gratification (both instantaneous & compounded), through our in-app activity based competitions. Kino’s competitions allow our users to compete with each other for real world prizes, simply for staying fit. How do we do this? Well, through bluetooth tracking devices & a.i.-based, boolean verification of results, Kino can determine which of our users are clocking the most activity, while formatting the data in an extremely friendly and easy to understand U.I. Competitions can range from one day long to one month long, with prizes ranging from in-app perks, to prizes worth actual money, that you’d actually want.

So how can you help us achieve our goal of making our dream a reality? Currently, Kino Fitness is running a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds to finish the development of the application. Kickstarter is a crowd-funding website where thousands of small companies go to raise capital to further the growth of their business. We have currently raised over $2,500 and with one week left of our campaign we need your help to reach out goal of $7,476.

As for our timeline, Kino is no more than a month out from iOS market launch. The money raised from our Kickstarter would help us grow our Kino community, while helping us accumulate the needed funds to help us finish application development, as well as bulk up our post-launch marketing budget.
