This Kind Films Launches Kickstarter for Their Newest Short-Film ‘Must Feed and Water’.
On Nov 25th, This Kind Films launched a Kickstarter campaign for their newest short-film ‘Must Feed and Water,’ a story about a little monster that is bound to the force that created him, Love. The film explores the relationship between main characters Alex and Hazle, who, after meeting each other, quickly fall in love. At the same time they begin their relationship, a creature is born in the forest, who will come to follow the characters every where they go and feed off their love.
“Imagine love is a little monster that follows you and your loved one everywhere you go,” says Michael Langman, one of the creators of Must Feed and Water. “Imagine this creature’s survival is tied to the way you treat each other. Every time you fight, the little monster gets sick; every time you treat each other with kindness and respect, the monster becomes stronger! This is the dilemma faced by Alex and Hazel as they embark on a new relationship. Can they keep their Love Monster alive?”
The team behind the project has experience producing previously successful short films, including “Of Teaching Killer Whales Compassion,” which enjoyed a strong festival run, winning Best Narrative Short Film at the Garden State Film Festival, and garnished an Honorable Mention at the world’s oldest, continuously held short film festival, The Rochester International Film Festival.
With this new project, Michael Langman and Raphe Wolfgang, the producers of ‘Must Feed and Water,’ will explore the concept of love from a fresh perspective, by making the emotion tangible in the form of a Love Monster. The Love Monster will be played by realistic puppet, similar to the puppets used to represent hallmark characters like E.T., Gizmo, and Yoda. The team consulted Mark Villalobos of Monster FX to bring the Love Monster puppet to life.
“After going through sketches and molds with the Monster FX team, we went on this amazing journey of watching the monster be born. The first moment we saw the puppet came to life is when we realized this project was possible and that it was going to change the way people viewed love.” – Michael Langman
Once the The Love Monster was completed, the team decided to turn to the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform to attract supporters for the short film and give backers access to a set of exclusive rewards. These include a digital copy of the film, limited edition stickers, high resolution digital posters, your name in the credits, a Love Monster statue, and more.
“Making a film takes far more than desire. It takes the skill and determination of a great many people. We have a team behind this project that believes in the concept just as much as we do,” says Michael Langman. “They, just like us, are ready to pour their hearts and souls into bringing this little Love Monster’s story to fruition.”
The project will be live on Kickstarter until January 1st, during which time backers can pledge their support. For more information, contact the creator below or check out the project here.
