Killer Friends

OFFICIAL LAUNCH FOR THE PILOT EPISODE OF KILLER FRIENDS: THE WEB SERIES

NEW YORK, NY- JULY 10TH, 2013

Watch as the zombie apocalypse takes over Manhattan in the much buzzed about new web series KILLER FRIENDS. The creative team behind this series is proud to release the pilot episode on FunnyorDie.com. Since its release, the episode has been featured on the site’s homepage, has gained over 6,000 views and currently maintains a 96% funny rating. In order to produce the next two episodes in the series, the creative team has started a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter with the hopes of using this overwhelmingly positive response to gain support for future episodes.

2012 Fordham graduate Jessica Charles (Creator, Writer, Producer) based this series on her generation’s unhealthy obsession with the end of the world, and the appalling lack of bougie New Yorkers/alcohol in The Walking Dead.

With funds already stretched to a breaking point after the creation of the first episode, the team has followed the lead of their more famous counterparts and made a Kickstarter. While they may not be Zach Braff or Kristen Bell, their lower budget matched with the public’s love of zombies will hopefully compel people to login to their paypal accounts and support these budding filmmakers. The Kickstarter campaign will run until July 25th; any interested in supporting this project can follow the link below to do so.

This web series is about Kyle and Sarah, two hip, young, Manhattanites who wake up after a long night of partying to discover that the zombie apocalypse has begun. They bought beer when they should have been buying bottled water and a first aid kit, and threw a party when they should have been putting the apartment on lockdown. Can an ironic knowledge of pop culture help them to survive? Is their other roommate already a zombie? If so, can they bring themselves to kill her? And most importantly: do zombies have sex?

Charles is excited about the future of the series, saying “We rarely get to see Manhattan full of zombies–probably because most of the population would be as ill-prepared as Sarah and Kyle are. I don’t need to see another RomCom about New Yorkers looking for love in all the wrong places. Unless there are zombies. Lots and lots of zombies.”

Produced by Gray Hour Media, directed by Fred Soligan. Cast includes New York based actors Mark Maciejewski as Kyle, Emily Fortunato as Sarah, and Lani Harms as Lani. The next two episodes will introduce more characters, more zombie killings, more banter and a hell of a lot more alcohol.
