A Kickstarter project to have handmade made Ice creams on the streets of Exeter with a 1940’s style ice cream bicycle.

April 2015 Tony Martin and independent Ice cream trader in Exeter Devon began a kickstarter project to help fund the purchase of an Ice cream Bicycle.

Tony started up his business on Fore street on the 4th of may 2014 with only 60% of the funds predicted he would need to open, Opting to stay away from the costly options of using the banks and falling short of government grants for what seemed like every reason under the sun he decided to just go ahead and fight the battle of starting a business the hard way, Quickly gaining a loyal customer base he has kept his principles the same: Ice cream always made by hand in the shop, A one of a kind way of creating your own milkshakes and an ever increasing range of Imported Candy and retro sweets at the best prices.

As already pointed out Tony makes his Ice cream in the shop by hand using an American recipe base that does not include Eggs this gives the Ice cream a real dense texture and creamy flavor that you do not find in other ice creams. All the Ice cream is Vegetarian, and he also creates Vegan/Dairy free Ice creams one of only a few people that do in the whole of Devon and Cornwall this gives Tony the edge when it comes to options and range to offer customers be it a Reese’s peanut butter ice cream a lemon Sorbet or a vegan Chocolate monkey Ice cream he will have something you just have to try.

The project and Kickstarter? what is it? www.kickstarter.com

The project itself revolves around crowdfunding, People from all over the world looking to help one and other can pledge or back the project to raise funds for the bike and get it ready to hit the streets, In return for a pledge these backers claim rewards which can be small thank-you cards, Sweet box’s, T-shirts or even a full day Ice cream master course. Artist Joel Millerchip has produced a 1 off piece to be used for T-shirts and you can even claim an original print as a reward.

Tony has found an Ice cream vendor from London who is selling her business to move to Australia to be with family, the funds needed for the project are £2,500 a fairly modest amount for a Kickstarter campaign this must be reached by Sunday the 24th of May. Not only will hitting the goal make Tony’s Ice creams a success but it will in turn fund Jessica’s trip to Australia. 2 dreams in 1 stone so to speak.

Kickstarter projects work on an “all or nothing” model so if the target of £2,500 is not met then Tony receives no funding, this will be a let down for him and also those that believed in the project and wanted to see it happen.

Be sure to follow the project and Tony’s on social media pages as the project moves closer to the goal.
