Marcus Embra, a freelance graphic designer trading as Sorba Media has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the creation of a website that will offer free web and print resources. The purpose of the project is to lend a helping hand to small businesses that cannot afford to hire a graphic designer.
Many small business owners find themselves in a quandary. In an effort to market their services or products cost effectively they have been forced to become amateur designers. Unfortunately, for the majority their lack of design experience results in substandard designs that do nothing to instil confidence in their company or products.
Marcus says, “One of the most satisfying aspects of working as a graphic designer is that I can give birth to something creative whenever I choose. More often than not the designs I create enter the world by way of a client commission, but the most exciting designs emerge from unexpected inspiration.”
Through the website Marcus will be offering free, self-made web and print templates for personal and commercial use. Files will include an ever-expanding library of logos, business cards, stationery, forms, social media profiles, and many more useful templates. New additions will be added to the site every week, and each template will be surprisingly easy to personalise.
Backers will get the chance download a range of templates before they go live on the site, and as a thank you they will receive a special mention in the first blog post when the site is launched. A limited number of pledgers will be entitled to a free custom business card template designed by Marcus himself.
The Kickstarter campaign is now live and will be running until 1:12am GMT on Monday 3rd March 2014. Help Marcus help small business look good by getting involved, head to Kickstarter to make a pledge that will be greatly appreciated.
