People are already spending so much time on their electronic devices, so why not use that screen time to learn a new skill? With that in mind, DrawBo, the world’s first robot that has been created to teach drawing in the easiest way, has been launched on Kickstarter. As a Kickstarter “Staff Pick,” it is a fun and exciting tool to bring enjoyment to the young and old everywhere who have a creative streak This designation is only achieved for best in class projects.
Much like every other skill, practice makes perfect. With DrawBo, it provides a smart, intuitive, and customizable drawing tutor for kids. It gives them a way to engage with something that will keep them happy and interested while providing good foundational instruction so that they can learn how to draw accurately and realistically without years of study.
Not only is it a great educational tool, but it is also effortless to set up and use. All people need to do is hang some drawing surface on the wall, connect the DrawBo, stick a drawing utensil into a receptacle on the butterfly-shaped robot’s body, and it is good to go. The cords of the DrawBo are hung onto hooks and will guide the user to complete the drawing in a systematic and straightforward step-by-step way. It can move vertically and horizontally across any drawing surface.
The device also comes with a user-friendly mobile application that allows the user to choose and upload any picture from its image gallery. The DrawBo will then conceive the image and through using AI and Deep Learning Algorithms will identify the different parts of the drawing. The image will then be drawn out step by step in a systematic way allowing the user to learn how to draw it easily. After each line, the device pauses, letting the child/student copy the image presented. By using the app, parents can not only choose the image to be drawn, but they can also select the length of the pauses in between steps based on the child’s age and drawing skills. If they choose to, they can also take manual control, which tells the robot when to proceed.
The DrawBo is currently the subject of a Kickstarter campaign, and if it reaches production, pledgers will get a DrawBo when they pledge $149 or more. The current planned retail price is $200.
