Boston, MA — With over $150,000 in successful funding raised from previous Kickstarters, Mark Kokavec is writing his 4th in his series of “How to Draw” sketchbooks. This book, written in hand with acclaimed comic book artist Andy Smith (who has drawn for Marvel, DC, and IDW), aims to teach burgeoning artists how to draw Super Heroes through a unique in-book guideline system: www.kickstarter.com

Unlike other drawing tutorials in the market, Mark’s “How to Draw: Super Heroes” is designed to encourage artists to draw directly in the sketchbook. Through a series of guidelines and templates, artists can master drawing different body types, action poses, costumes, and more. The guidelines fade away over the course of the book allowing artists to rely less on the tutorials and more on their developing skill.

Mark Kokavec on why he chose to partner with Andy Smith for his latest Kickstarter, “I’m excited to have partnered with one of the Comic industries top Artists Andy Smith for this project. Sketch directly in the sketchbook, right over Andy’s drawings and guidelines. Kickstarter enables us to reach a large audience of backers that share a passion for drawing. We have some great rewards, including original artwork by Andy exclusive to Kickstarter backers.”

For Andy Smith, it was Marks unique take on teaching others how to draw that drew him to the Kickstarter saying, “I felt Mark had an ingenious idea for the interactive, learn as you go sketchbook and that is what led me to contact him about doing “How to Draw: Superheroes” as his newest campaign. I wish I had a book like this I could draw right in over top of the professional artist’s guides to learn from. No matter your skill level this book is for you.”

The Kickstarter runs through Thursday, September 28 2017 11:30 PM EDT.

Mark and Andy are looking to raise $8,000 at a minimum to fund the project. Once initial funding has been met, additional stretch goals will be added to the project by Mark to help enhance the finished manual.
