Industry leading footwear designer, Sean O’Shea, announces the launch of the original DRESS SNEAKER on Kickstarter. The brand’s positioning is unique and the footwear style is innovative with a rich and classic appeal. Quality and craftsmanship are deep rooted components in the product. The DRESS SNEAKER itself is built on the chassis of an authentic dress shoe and styled with the look and feel of an American sports sneaker. Rooted in American sports styling and fused with high quality – hand crafted elements of a rich dress shoe brand, InSoul’s design esthetic offers a timeless appeal.
The brand’s name InSoul is an obvious play on the word “insole” but spelled “soul” to embrace the tie between music culture and the footwear culture. Hip Hop music is one of many elements associated with sneaker culture, but InSoul seeks to celebrate the “soul music” that many artists take their inspiration (samples) from. Using this foundation will give the young supporters and their parents common ground to enjoy the product and brand’s lifestyle.
Founder and designer, Sean OShea has over 15 years of experience in the footwear industry. He has designed for several major brands including Nike, Adidas, Converse and Ralph Lauren, just to name a few. Sean began developing the DRESS SNEAKER in 2008. He reached out to a friend at an expensive dress shoe factory and worked with them to create a sneaker using all of the quality and craftsmanship used when constructing a dress shoe. The beauty behind the design was for the shoe to appear like a sneaker upon first glance, however with a closer second look one would see the details of a shoe which could only be hand made by skilled shoe maker/cobbler.
InSoul Footwear launched a Kickstarter campaign on January, 28th in order to crowdsource fund to take the DRES SNEAKER from final prototypes through it’s initial production run. The Kickstarter campaign will run until February 28th, with the goal of raising $60,000+.
