Los Angeles, CA – In South Africa and other lands conformity is not a suggestion, it is the guardian of your life. End Of The Rainbow investigates the true, but shocking movement to ‘cure’ women of their sexual orientation.  End Of The Rainbow is an electric, true-to-life documentary on the practice that has become known as Corrective Rape. Corrective Rape involves the raping of lesbians in order to attempt to “right” their homosexuality. This terrifying and lewd practice is being hidden from the eyes of most in the world leaving these women in trepidation and to die in vain.

End Of The Rainbow Director, Thomas Gibson, reveals in the new feature documentary how corrective rape of lesbians has become increasingly common. It is practiced in several nations, including Thailand, Ecuador, Jamaica, El Salvador and Zimbabwe, but nowhere is it as prevalent as in South Africa, where the term originated.  It has even been reported in Canada and the United States.

This powerful documentary will give light to and share the life-story of Eudy Simelane.

Eudy was a vocal LGBT-rights activist and famous athlete being a member of the South African Women’s National Football Team. In 2008, Eudy was gang-raped and brutally murdered in KwaThema, Gauteng. After much investigation two of her four accused assailants would be ultimately convicted.

Interviews will also include victims who have experienced the horrific ordeal known as corrective rape and lived to tell about it.  An in-depth look will be given to the cases surrounding South Africa, Thailand, El Savador and Jamaica. Statistics show on a weekly basis more than 10 lesbians are either raped or gang-raped in Cape Town, South Africa alone.

Attention will also be given to charities and organizations set up to help abused women deal with the physical and emotional complications stemming from attacks. One such charity, Luleki Sizwe, will provide an insiders look on what is and what isn’t being done to help lesbian women that have been raped. End Of The Rainbow will focus on the betrayal of family members and close associates. In many corrective rape cases, rape is given the ‘OK’, being supervised by members of the woman’s family or local community.

Funds raised through this Indiegogo crowd funding campaign will help Gibson and his team complete the film and share the story with the world.
