“A Place Called Home” by Burning Daylight Productions is a hard hitting drama which is bound to ‘set the world on fire’.

“A Place Called Home” is a riveting film inspired by the over 600,000 currently homeless LGBTQ teens and former LGBTQ homeless teens who are part of the more than 9 million ‘LGBTQ’ adults in America alone and the struggles they endure – sometimes to the point of death — because of their sexuality. “Each story is as heartbreaking as the next” explained Sherry Kelly, the film’s producer. “Six homeless LGBTQ teens die on the street every day while politicians and religious groups debate their points of view and justify their appalling decisions. This is the story of anyone who has been discriminated against and hated because of who they are”.

Set in present day New York City, it realistically tells the story of Ally, an All-American teen, whose life is turned upside down as she struggles to accept her sexuality and the collateral damage she experiences. “As you accompany Ally on her journey you will laugh, cry and, at times, become enraged sparking an open and honest debate – helping to bring about the much needed change LGBTQ teens deserve after being abandoned by their families, churches and society ” stated Sherry.

When asked about Pope Francis’statement “They should not be marginalized because of this but that they must be integrated into society” Sherry stated “That is why we are here, to help each other, not tear each other down, not throw each other out of our homes and definitely not our churches in the name of religion and most certainly not to bully each other to death.”

Sherry went on to discuss the Holy Father’s “Who am I to judge?” question: “That statement confirms what we knew all along – judging is best left to God. That is what Scripture teaches us. And Scripture is what the conservatives and evangelicals base their argument on. I always wonder why they don’t attack other sins with the same level of hatred and condemnation.”

Sherry is using the innovative Crowdfunding platform ‘GoFundMe’ to raise the projects capital stating it is a “modern and exciting” way to fund people’s dreams as well as support LGBTQ teens. “The funds we raise will all go towards pre-production and production — casting, crew, equipment, wardrobe and production design” says Sherry.

Supporters are invited to make contributions ranging from $5.00 to $1,000, and they won’t walk away empty handed. They will receive thank you gifts ranging from a Tweet-out for a $5 contribution to an unforgettable dinner with the Producer, Director & a cast member plus a whole day on set for a $1000 contribution.
