A project that started years ago has finally reached the point where it is ready to make its debut, setting its sights on Kickstarter. The Image Company is a small business started between two friends, from Southern California. What started as yet another run of the mill clothing brand, has manifested into something much more. Directing their attention to quality, the creators have worked to focus primarily on the grade of leather they can acquire and finding a unique and comfortable fabric to use for their apparel line. Claiming to be preparing to delve deep into the tiniest corners on the internet to locate the best artists that have yet to make their big splash, bringing their artwork out into the light. Finding a way to take something unique and high quality, mixing it with new and lively artwork seems like a refreshing step away from the cheap shirts and cookie-cutter designs we see today.
The fabric that has been chosen by the duo is Bamboo, a fairly unheard of material in the fabric industry. As seen for an instant in the video, the shirts look as if they just drape over the person wearing them, light and soft. After having heard of the eco-friendly attributes of the fabric, it seems as if Donald McGhee and Daniel Torres, of The Image Co., decided to take the less traveled of routes by choosing such an unheard of material to use, one that is somewhat genius in a way, given that if it grows, can make a large impact in the industry. It seems like it may have a lot going for it beyond just being a soft alternative to basic cotton. Incredibly comfortable, highly absorbent AND eco-friendly? Sign me up!
The products are sure to be slick and professional, given the attention to detail that the creators have gone to to craft their design around the very leather they plan to use for each individual item. Approaching the project with skepticism, a person will look at the products in the video and compare them to a completed product, but the sketches show what is intended once the actual materials are acquired and put to use, and that what is shown is just merely mock ups and trial runs.
All and all, the products are not insanely overpriced for items that are hand-crafted in the US, utilizing the best material imaginable. This may just be something to look at for those looking to help fund the start up of a new business with a lot of potential.
