Local photographer to host first international photo exhibition with Kickstarter. Funding sought to host photo exhibition in India themed “Iconic Grain Elevators and Life in Western Canada”.

Regina, Mar 03, 2015:  After three years of photographing Western Canada, a Regina based photographer, Jayaram Varada, is offering copies of his Fine-Art photography to fund his first photo exhibition themed “Iconic Grain Elevators and Life in Western Canada” which will be held in Kerala, India from May 12-17, 2015.

After receiving much attention in Regina and in Kerala, India as a photographer, the art department at Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, India, has invited Jayaram to display his work at a collaborative photo exhibition with one of their researchers.

“The grain elevators in Western Canada have for years been referred to as prairie icons, prairie cathedrals or prairie sentinels and have become a visual symbol of what farming in this part of the country is all about. The idea is get these images to people around the world and for future references as monuments and art and also to throw light on the prairie culture that depend(ed) on these icons.” It is encouraging to note that the photographer is focusing on displaying the images from the prairies to an international audience.

The Kickstarter campaign runs from Mar 3rd to Mar 23rd, and the funding is all or none, meaning Jayaram must raise a minimum of $6,500 or the project will not be funded at all.  The campaign accepts pledged donations and also offers copies of Jayaram’s notable artwork from the project. Kickstarter has become quite the success story in recent years, and the website’s dedication to independent artists is commendable.

The project will be very easy to locate on Kickstarter, just type in Iconic Grain Elevator and it will pop right up.
