Now introducing Humans of the World – a unique look at people all over the world through photographs, videos, and fingerprints. On July 30th, I will be leaving on a 365-day trip around the world. Each day of my trip, I will interview a complete new stranger. 365 unique humans.
Humans of the World is a compilation of 50 of the individuals documented throughout the journey, and gives a unique looks at humanity in its many different forms. 10,000€ is my first goal, This allows me to fund the book, buy the frames and produce the digital content all along the year. 100% Of the funds go for two purposes: 1. Fund the entire book project. 2. Produce and send the frames.
Every piece comes with the story of the person who carries this fingerprint capturing the essence of their individuality. It’s a unique and intimate bridge, a personal connection between you and a stranger from somewhere in the world. If you take 2 steps back, they are all the same young, old, black, white, poor, rich, African or Asian. But if you get closer some of them look like clouds, some of them look like stones, they are all singular, unique and unrivaled like humanity.
Inside, the book will be a compilation of the 50 most memorable humans I meet. It will be composed of notes, photos, maps and obviously, the humans’ fingerprints. Each reportage will also include a list of facts on each person: what they do, have done, think, who they love, what they hate, the things they dream of, etc.. With this, I will be able to create the most objective possible image of their lives, work and words. Quite simply, I will capture the essence of the human beings that they are.
I will be guided by a list of questions and also follow a common method for all of them. I will share moments of their lives with them and spend time observing, listening and basically being curious. I will also plan about thirty meetings with “notorious” people. From a famous DJ in Hong Kong to a former prisoner in Bangkok, to an entrepreneur from the favelas. This approach was partiality inspired by Humans of New York but mainly by anthropological researchers of the previous century. They were adventurers, journalists and artists all at once. These explorers of the unknown went to meet the new world by trying to understand it and describe it as objectively as possible.
