Now introducing House Slave – the groundbreaking feature film and musical from director Prince Domonick is running a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo to cover the costs of creating this historical piece, and we hope to be able to bring our vision to audiences all over the United States!
Slavery was during one of America’s darkest periods. But it was during that period where a genre of music was born. Slaves didn’t have much, and they often were separated at birth from their families. They had no money, education, or clothes of their own. One of the only things they had and hold on to as their own was music, a song of hope and deliverance. It is called The Negro Spiritual. It was their spirituals that gave birth to genre’s to like Blues, Jazz, R&B, and Gospel. Without the Spiritual artist like Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, Whitney Houston, and even Beyonce would not even exist.
I believe that his gut wrenching graphic story will open the eyes and ears of many and gain a better understanding of the struggle, and how music played a pivotal role in the building of this Great Nation. This Film will be shot on location Summer 2014 in Athens, Alabama at the Beautiful Madelyn’s in the Grove.
