Seattle, WA — Battleground Productions is crowdfunding via Hatchfund for the Second Season of the Audio version of BRASS, a Steampunk adventure serial about a family of science geniuses in a war with a criminal Mastermind in 19h century London.
It’s 1885 in a world where things have gone very differently. The sky is filled with lighter-than-air craft, the streets are full of steam hackneys and Babbage computational engines have brought the computer age a hundred years early.
In all the Empire there are no greater defenders of the Realm than the Family Brass, a quartet of Victorian science geniuses. Lady Brass is a Sherlock Holmes-level detective, her husband Lord Brass an inventor and master tactician, daughter Gwendolyn a mistress of disguise and con artist, and son Cyril a martial artist savant. Now returned to London, they find themselves pitted against a mysterious Crime Minister who’s organized all of the criminal gangs of London.
Season One of BRASS, produced on a shoestring and featuring a cast of superb Seattle vocal talent, played across the country on over 50 commercial radio stations and public radio stations in Alaska and Illinois. In addition to enthusiastic feedback from listeners and station managers, we were recognized as the “final finalist” for Best Mystery at the 2016 Mark Time Awards. (It’s also now available, for free, on iTunes!)
In Season Two, the family escapes from a series of deathtraps only to find that their enemy has further plans for their destruction. For if it’s a “War on Crime” that they want it’s a War they’re going to get, as an army assembled from every gang in London descends upon their London townhouse.
Through 10 thrilling episodes that reinvent the classic radio adventure serial for the 21st century, we are creating the audio experience of a 19th century that never existed, filled with desperate fights, hair-breadth escapes and other terribly exciting moments with some awfully pleasant people.
