My name is Nassazi Kauthar Wangi, 19 years old, a university student currently enrolled in a medical school in Uganda. I am one of the few privileged girls in my home village that have been lucky enough to reach the level of education that I am at. There are a lot of girls who have dropped out of school as a result of not being able to afford school, for some because they get pregnant.
I am from a small town in Mukono district called Nakifuma. I have been lucky enough to be receiving scholarships for most of my education and getting financial support from my family. This is the village where I have grown up and I would like any of the girls I know from there to end their happy lives just because they got pregnant or were not able to afford school.
The reason as to why some girls get pregnant is because of the inability to afford sanitary pads, panties, bras and clothes, they are forced to sell their bodies to local men just to get enough to buy any of them. Imagine a girl selling herself for 2500 Uganda shillings which is the cost of a pack of sanitary pads.
Through that some of them get pregnant or contract sexually related diseases, and due to the presence of financial stress, they don’t continue school after that.
The funds would do a lot as it would be able to get them sanitary pads, knickers, bras so that they reduce the prostitution for a while and also to set up a small enterprise where all of them manage to get some some till is grows bigger.
Any form of support is appreciated and it would mean a lot if a girl’s life was changed and they have a positive outlook on life. www.airfunding.net
