Watertown, MA – On June 3, 2015, Botanical Springs launched an Indiegogo campaign for Evolution Academy, an initiative aimed to help spread the buzz about the importance of pollinators.

“I started the Botanical Springs Evolution Academy, frankly, because of my own experiences growing up,” shares the founder, Francesco Capaldi, “I struggled through school and struggled with my own sense of self-worth on account of some pretty severe learning disabilities. I did find happiness and success out in nature, learning through a more hands on approach.”

Bee populations are dramatically declining worldwide and Botanical Springs has made it their mission to do something about it. The company recently bought a bus formerly used as a police command center. Now they have turned to the Indiegogo community to raise the funds needed to turn that bus into a mobile classroom complete with active display hives and beekeeping equipment.

Once finished the team will be able to bring their bees safely to schools, youth organizations, and garden clubs throughout New England where children and adults alike will have the opportunity to learn valuable life-skills while engaging in fun, hands-on activities developed in conjunction with one of the leaders in alternative education, Bill Cumming, Director of the Boothby Institute.  These activities have been designed to increase both self-awareness and environmental awareness.

“Botanical Springs has turned my passion for the environment into a business. Now, with the Evolution Academy, I want to help empower others to discover their own, innate skills,” Capaldi explains, “At the same time, I can’t ignore the devastating decline in bee populations around the globe. Bees play a crucial role in both Botanical Springs and nature as a whole. Raising awareness about bees through fun, hands-on, learning activities seemed, well, perfectly natural.”

In exchange for pledging their support, backers will gain access to a variety of rewards including: name recognition on classroom equipment, naming a honeybee queen, and sending the mobile classroom to a school in New England.
