New Indie queer POC comic book about a 23 year old Mexican superhero who gets her powers from an Aztec God. The beginning of the comic has a short origin story that shows the very first host of the Spirit and how the powers became a part of the families blood line to begin with. It also shows foreshadowing and key plot points that will be revealed in future comic issues.
The rest of the story will be in current times based on real places and even loosely around real people. It will set place in Dallas Texas, and surrounding DFW metroplex area, where she runs her families gym by day and protects her community from gang violence and crime through the night. She inherits her powers from her father’s side of the family. The origin of which goes back to just before the end of the Mesoamerican time period. She will also have ro eventually deal with other worldly problems and creatures sent to earth by the other Gods of the Mesoamerican era. The campaign is to raise money to improve the chapters I currently have.
The money will go to art revision, editing, ink, color, printing, and the creation of a pdf version to be distributed to many publishing company for comic books. I also plan on using the printed versions as sample for local comic shops to help invest so that I can sell the comic in their stores as well. I have three separate conventions coming up this year in three different major cities to pass out cards and information. I have tables set up at each of them so I can spread the word, show the comic, and network with other comic artist and writers. The travel expenses I will cover myself. Everything raised in the fundraiser will go directly towards making this first issue as perfect as possible.
