Heavenly Trolley Dogs is a Food Truck that not only feeds the body, but also the souls of many along the Gulf Coast. We are Brenda and Jim O’Neill and we are the owners. We have always had a strong passion to help those in need. We have been the owners of 2 adult foster care homes, a nail salon, a mortgage company. But that all changed in 2007.
When Jim became disabled in 1999 he was forced to retire from his management job at local body shops, and wanted to try and do something else that was less physical, but still helping others. He trained to be a Realtor, but couldn’t do it full time do his limitations and as we all know the crash of 2008 was hard on everyone. During the financial crash of 2008, we lost everything…our businesses, our home, and most of all, confidence in ourselves. You see, we had always been self-employed and self-reliant. We weren’t used to needing the help of strangers.
Unfortunately, that is where we found ourselves in 2008. Thankfully, God restored us, and gave us back most everything we had lost. We moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where I have been working for someone else for the last 10 years and Jim is working with his disability to the best of his ability.. We have tried to ALWAYS make a difference in the lives of all we come in contact with.
However, due to limited funds now we find that we are not able to do all the things we see that need to be done. We knew what something was missing from our lives and that was the ability to get back out and minister to people that needed a hand up and a listening ear. We have always been hard workers, but just didn’t feel that we are able to reach as many people as we could with me now working in an office by myself and Jim not being able to go back to work full time.
We also know you can’t mentor to someone if they aren’t in front of you. And we all know that if you feed someone they will come! In prayer one day, God told me that I needed to stop being afraid and that I needed to believe in myself again. He said I needed to start the Trolley and that He would show us the way. We would be able to go where people are, feed them, and bring the good news about Him to others. Doing what God asked of you can be fun and delicious also!
