I Heart Streaming breaks new ground in the medium of documentary filmmaking and video game chronicling, going behind-the-scenes into the lives of eight professional game streamers. This film follows the imaginative people who make an unconventional living entertaining audiences through live “streams,” web channels where they host and play video games. There are many misconceptions about careers in gamecasting. Such work is often not as easy or glamorous as it may seem. Streamers have to run their entire lives like a business –constantly marketing their community, networking with fellow streamers and honing their brand–which is themselves. Often living very secluded lives, they suffer from depression, addiction, or an overly sedentary lifestyle. Streaming has become their outlet, their passion. The communities they have built from scratch support them both emotionally and financially in a uniquely unconditional way. I Heart Streaming: The Life of a Gamecaster will document the change in the way we play video games and the people who are bringing about that change.
