Depth-VR — a 3D head tracking device that brings unprecedented realism to 3D objects on any screen.
San Francisco, CA – Depth-VR is a device that uses head tracking, 3D glasses, and a software algorithm to turn any screen into an immersive 3D experience, bringing depth and perspective to 3D virtual objects. Development on Depth-VR is finished, so the team is launching a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for mass production and allow people to preorder.

Depth-VR’s goal is to bring affordable, reliable, and vivid 3D effects to any screen. The DepthVR project started in 2013 and focused on developing functional and inexpensive hardware that lets users see 3D objects from any angle simply by moving their heads. The team also developed a software algorithm to easily make 3D applications and games Depth-VR compatible. Depth-VR will begin shipping to Kickstarter backers in March 2015, with its public
release scheduled for 2015.07.
About Depth-VR:
Depth-VR consists of three hardware devices; 3D glasses, infrared tracking tower, and motion controller. Infrared beacons on the glasses allow the system to track a user’s head movements with a high degree of precision. The system then shows objects from different angles depending on this position data. Depth-VR not only displays 3D objects; users can interact with and manipulate objects using the Depth-VR motion controller, or Leap Motion.
Depth-VR launches as a platform for amazing, immersive gaming. The team has developed 15 demo games which will launch with Depth-VR. They have also created an easy to use Unity Plugin and SDK so developers can quickly and easily make their creations Depth-VR compatible. But Depth-VR isn’t only limited to gaming; the team hopes to bring Depth-VR technology to 3d modeling and medical data visualization in the near future.
A limited supply of basic set of Depth-VR is available to early backers who contribute $60 right now. Backers can choose red&blue or polarized glasses based on what kind of displays they own. The team also offers finely designed motion controllers and 3D displays. As for shipping, Depth-VR plans to ship out to all backers in early 2015.
