Boise, Idaho — Harbourside Co. is raising funds via a crowd funding campaign on KickStarter to launch a Brand Representative program. The company set out to raise $2,500 on KickStarter to help bring awareness and in the fight to preserve our oceans. Launching a Brand Representative program will help bring awareness to the brand and cause, while also lending to continual growth and larger donations!
There are many disruptive and destructive materials affecting our oceans. More than 8 million tons of plastic is dumped into our oceans every year. Plastic alone kills and damages the entire eco-system. From killing animals, to damaging reefs, to even depleting the oxygen levels plastic causes many problems. There are many other concerns including fishing practices, which kill and trap more than 300,000 whales, dolphins and porpoise every year, coastal development and pollution which causes excess runoff, erosion, and pollution of pesticides and other chemicals, as well as over fishing. Another issue is legal and illegal trade of marine animals. Sold as ornamental display (dried souvenirs), aquarium fishes, and even traditional Chinese medicine. For example there are more than 20 million seahorses traded each year for Chinese medicine and hundreds of thousands sold for aquariums.
