Metro-Detroit native, independent jewelry designer calling on community to help fund growth.

Sarah Abend, a Michigan jewelry designer is turning to Kickstarter to help take her company GRAMMAR to the next level.

“I started over two years ago, leaving teaching to pair my college training in metalsmithing, sculpture & fashion design with my love of art to create my own, unique line of jewelry,” Sarah says. “Up until now I’ve done everything myself, but for my company to continue to thrive, I need to get my work in front of a broader audience.”

Using the centuries old technique of ceramics, GRAMMAR creates jewelry in small batches that satisfies the desire for design, fashion, innovation and individuality. The uniqueness of the work has attracted notice, and Sarah has been selected for the POOL Tradeshow in Las Vegas, a juried collection of emerging brands and is where boutiques go to scout new talent. To take full advantage of this opportunity, Sarah has identified art and design professionals to help align GRAMMAR’s visual appearance to its mission and help her connect with a wider audience. This and the costs of the show will require funding, something that can be difficult to secure for a small, start up company like GRAMMAR.

Sarah explains, “I have a plan and the people to help me, but to make it all happen I knew that I needed help. Thankfully, crowdfunding is the perfect way to ask for help and to give back to those who provide it. Through Kickstarter I can share my story with people who are interested in supporting a local, ethical, and woman-owned business and lets me reward their contribution with the jewelry they are helping me to create.”

Sarah’s Kickstarter campaign is underway now through November 30, 2017. Supporters choose their level of support and reward they receive if the project is funded. Support GRAMMAR’s campaign at: www.kickstarter.com
