Now introducing Goodbye Havana – the feature film campaign is live on IndieGoGo. Synopsis: A Cuban heiress. An American reporter. A forbidden romance. This melodrama set in 1950’s Cuba depicts the lifestyle of Havana’s most elite, and will be a unique look into the culture that defined Havana.
A few years ago, I came across an article in an old LIFE magazine showing high society in 1950’s Havana. I was enchanted by the people in these photographs and their lavish lifestyles, and immediately knew I needed to make a film that captured this golden time in Havana.
The story follows Allen – an American journalist on the trip of a lifetime as he stumbles through Havana’s tropical playground into the arms of a sugar plantation heiress. Can these lovers from such vastly different worlds create a lasting and meaningful relationship in a country on the verge of revolution?
Goodbye Havana is my senior thesis film. Cuba before Castro – it’s a subject that’s rarely been touched upon in any medium, especially film, and now is the perfect time to tell this story. I see an increasing longing and nostalgia for this time in Cuba and recognized a need to re-create this world of beauty, tragedy and romance. It’s the dream project for me. I have devoted nearly two years to the research and planning of this film, and it would mean a great deal to me to be able to complete production, and share this piece of history with others.
Our reach goal is 7,000 which will help us in many areas of production, including location costs, transportation, film permits, additional props and wardrobe needs. We are offering some exciting perks in exchange for donations, large and small. Please read over them carefully and choose the one that fits you best.
We appreciate any contribution towards this project, and even if we do not reach our goal, we will still be able to redeem the full amount of donations through Indiegogo’s flexible funding. And if you are unable to contribute at this time, you can still help us by spreading the word and sharing our campaign on your Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites. It is greatly appreciated.
