GoldPieces (GP) is a cryptocurrency (CC) created in January with a stated purpose to: “… be used as the in-game currency in various browser based online games.” The GP growth plan is to: “… build and maintain a network of gaming sites that use GP … [and to] … generate income from players who buy extra GP to purchase in-game items or specially decorate their avatar, remove ads, or other special bonuses.”
Mindful of valuation the developer also indicated that: “… site income will boost the coins value by putting fiat into the coin’s economy …” The developer’s overall aim was for GP to: “bridge the gap between gamers and digital currency.” After a notable beginning, the CC struggled for months until a strange event involving the way the developer handled funds in his dice game seems to have resulted in a self-imposed banishment — the developer abandoned the project.
Given the turn of events and resulting leadership vacuum HYPERfuture (HF), the developer of HYPER, the #1 purpose CC for gaming, considered stepping in to rescue the currency. HF’s strategic rescue plan is a model for CC industry pros to follow.
His plan marshaled various resources on behalf of GP such that the currency could be literally, financially, and socially placed on a whole new path to success. The multi-pronged plan started with the announcement of the rescue plan (aka community takeover), which was followed by an injection of capital, immediate integration and adoption of GP into established games, a sea of organized publicity, a digital currency coding fork, and a brand new announcement thread at bitcointalk.com. The reorganization plan was well received, to the extent of a triple digit bounce.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the work that is going into the rescue.
CryptoDatabase curates the largest list of CCs (1300+) and is also the developer for the immensely popular game Dragon Knight where players can win real CC as they progress through the levels of the game. Many currencies (EMC2, HYPER, Mooncoin) are featured there, At the urging of HF Cryptodatabase fully integrated GP into the game dknight.ml. According to Cryptodatabase: “knowing the actions of the previous dev, … I was glad that it finally found its way into the hands of someone [(HF)] who would actually try to help the coin. At this point I was more than happy to add the coin to the game and help out where I could…”
According to HF: “GP has now been integrated into the … Counter-Strike: Global Offensive … HYPER server. hypercrypto.com “ He is also “… working on getting GP integrated into many more games over the coming weeks.” And if that wasn’t enough of an incentive he has also pledged: “if anyone integrates GP into their online game I will send them a tip”
His GP support didn’t end there, he also said: “I will pledge some GP to every GP game or project that raises funding, by crowdfunding on PICISI …GP has been accepted as a sponsor [at] PICISI … which means …game developers will be able to list crowdfunding projects and raise GP for their GP game development projects.“ Wow, he’s giving you money so that you can raise money to develop your game at a crowdfunding site. If you ever wanted to develop an online game now is the time to do it. Here is a way for game developers to raise funds, receive sponsorship support, and have an income to maintain the game after launch.
PICISI is a promising crowdfunding site that is presently under construction. Campaign organizers at the site will be able to raise funds in fiat as well as crypto currencies. They will also be able to get sponsorship for their campaign to help them reach their goal.
At PICISI every campaign will receive some funding and some promotion: www.crowdfundingpr.org
According to HF “… GP is still just getting started … there is a lot of room for growth … as more and more GP games [are] developed.”
As for the GP community reaction: crazyjack said: “HYPERfuture good work, i am HYPER follower but i will definitely keep an eye on GP too” and vegasguy said: “Nice to collaborate with you on this project, Hyper. Was a pleasure. Its just like I told you a few weeks ago, it will go 10x the price or more …”
