Professor George L. Fouke needs your help to fund the publication of his book and get his urgent and important message out.

Consider this fact: 99.9 percent of all species known to have existed on this planet are now extinct—failed experiments in evolution. The idea, whether religious or secular, that the human species is somehow exempt from this calculation is no longer credible. We are the first species on this planet to “do science,” as Carl Sagan pointed out; but, thereby, we are also the first species to engineer a means of mass collective suicide (nuclear, chemical, and biological). We’re not talking about saving this ball of dirt we call Earth. Like ’ol Man River keeps rolling along, the Earth will keep on trucking around the sun for millions and millions of years. Whether it does so with us aboard is another question.

George L. Fouke Ph.D, author and retired professor of political science and interdisciplinary studies, fears that our species is in jeopardy of extinction. At the age of 80 he wanted to share his fears about the future of our planet and he believes that there are great survival lessons in the Jewish experience.

By raising $10,000 in 30 days professor Fouke will be able to publish this book in May. He hopes this book will be a springboard for his long term ambition, which is to found an Institute for Survival Strategies, a kind of non-profit think tank.

“The 4000 year history of the Jewish people is tremendously painful to read from a humanitarian perspective; but read from a perspective of ‘survival,’ it is an extraordinarily valuable record of what I call ‘survival strategy.’ If we humans are to be a part of the 1% we must evolve a new paradigm of survival. This book is an attempt to do just that, using examples from Jewish history and cultural practices. Against almost unbelievable adversity, they have survived and are thriving worldwide. Globally, all people will be facing great adversity in the future, and I believe the examples of survival from the Jews’ long travail will be of great help.” —George Fouke
