New York, NY — RG is a New Orleans native and graduate of McDonogh #35 Senior High School. Growing up in the dirty south, blackness was love-hate for her. She would proclaim, I love Builds, Builds, Builds while trying to twerk in the girl’s bathroom. Those awkward encounters with her peers led her to become a performer. In late 2018, she moved to NYC to jump-start her performance career. In less than a year, she became a Phyllis Gebauer Scholarship Recipient, a Finalist in the Sundance Episodic Lab, a LAMBDA Literary Playwright Fellow and a panelist at The Women’s Theatre Conference. RG went on to book short films, web-series, and an Off-Broadway show. Her biggest leap came when she said yes to The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. January 2020 starts her first term.
RG has a unique voice on cultural diversity in entertainment and the positive aspects of embracing your identity. She believes ambition, yours specifically, will always be bigger than you. Embrace it! She also believes in owning those confusing moments that lead to true enlightenment. Like her secret high school boyfriend called Tug Boat. He was co-captain of the football team. I wasn’t allowed to date…or shave my legs…or kiss…
Right now she is raising funds through GoFundMe for her first year at The Academy. It’s an explosive 2-week campaign to support the professional development of an up and coming artist. With her dynamic personality, RG is perfect for a light-hearted interview or authoring a guest blog piece. She’s reachable at rgsattheacademy@gmail.com.
