GEEK BAR CHICAGO KICKSTARTER TO START JULY 23RD
Long-awaited crowd funding project to be featured by Seed Chicago.

{CHICAGO, IL} Cantina Forward, Inc. has announced the Kickstarter project for Geek Bar Chicago commences July 23rd, 2013. Running 30 days with a goal of $9,750, the Geek Bar Kickstarter will be a featured project of Seed Chicago, a collaboration between Kickstarter and The City of Chicago administered by World Business Chicago. Seed Chicago is a program that highlights projects that create jobs and economic growth in Chicago’s neighborhoods. Using Kickstarter’s online platform, Seed Chicago aggregates attention to local small business and community projects on a curated webpage featuring innovative projects from around Chicago.

“Our supporters have been asking about a Kickstarter from the moment we announced Geek Bar in April,” said David Zoltan, CEO of Geek Bar. “The goal of the Kickstarter project is to help furnish, decorate, and geek out Geek Bar. This will give the geek community their chance to help us truly realize our vision for this home for geek culture in Chicago.”

Kickstarter’s crowdfunding platform unites project creators with potential backers, allowing anyone to pledge support online. Seed Chicago is one of Kickstarter’s first curated city pages focused on projects that drive economic activity at the neighborhood level. The projects on Seed Chicago are all small businesses and community development projects in Chicago’s neighborhoods looking to create jobs and expand local business.

“Chicago’s strength is in our neighborhoods and our residents’ passion for expanding economic opportunity for their fellow Chicagoans,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Seed Chicago takes an innovative approach to creating economic growth that challenges communities and businesses to work together to develop and fund creative projects that have a direct, positive impact on neighborhoods and create important jobs.”

Geek Bar Chicago has a projected open of March, 2014 on the north side of Chicago. It will feature a full restaurant and bar, as well as geek culture-related activities such as board gaming, TV and movie nights, live entertainment, and special guests.
