Frozen Fruit Co, a top rated soft serve on Yelp and one of Eater LA’s best soft serves of 2017 launched a Kickstarter campaign last week for its plant based vegan ice cream truck.
Launched in July 2016 Frozen Fruit Co had one goal – “to change the way we think about frozen treats and what they are made of”. Well, that mission is about to hit the streets of Los Angeles with the founders, Michael and Victoria Philippou, deciding to launch a plant based vegan “ice cream” truck.
Frozen Fruit Co makes a revolutionary new type of frozen treat. Not sorbet, ice cream or frozen yogurt – it involves no common base like every other frozen treat on the market. Instead, their frozen treats are made completely from fruit and sweetened with only natural fruit sugars like dates or apples, pears and peaches. The result is something that you can feel good about eating, you won’t get a sugar rush from and tastes amazing. At the time of writing Yelp currently gives them a 5 star rating.
Described as a “hidden gem” on Santa Monica’s Montana Avenue, the founders are often asked to open in new areas across LA. With a store already in place the couple decided to launch a food truck – giving them the advantage of being able to visit lots of different locations. The truck will offer scooped versions of their vegan plant based treats which is currently made in their Santa Monica store.
The duo have launch a $10,000 Kickstarter campaign on 4th April to help with finishing off the truck. Citing that they “want to involve and reward their customers for all the support they have shown us over the last year and 9 months”.
If you head over to that Kickstarter page you’ll get a look at some of the rewards being offered. From gift cards, to free toppings for a year, to private parties and even having the truck named after you. Flavors will change monthly, but will include Chocolate (their signature flavor made from coconut milk, cacao and dates), Chocolate Mint, Strawberry “Cream”, Mango, Raspberry & Orange, Passionfruit, Blueberry and Banana Pumpkin Spice. They even include edible flowers as a topping.
Frozen Fruit Co should have it’s “nice” cream truck on the streets of LA by this Summer. The truck will be offering scooped versions of their flavors. They’ve already gotten sign-off from LA Country Environmental Health and the truck is currently being finalised.
