My 16 year old continues to stay positive with a beautiful smile after going through a life changing accident. Suffered a C5 cervical spinal cord injury. The accident happened on February 13,2021. It happened at Glamis while off roading in an ATV. He had to be airlifted from the dessert to a trauma hospital in Palm Springs.
Somehow the call came through when the accident happened (as you know no reception out in the dessert) to inform me that an accident had happened.. my heart dropped, I dropped … I began to pray and I prayed few hours until I got to my son at the hospital.
By then he was sedated and intubated. I began to talk to him and he opened his eyes. He heard me!! The nurse said “ mom, no.. don’t talk to him he is waking up to your voice” so I just gently touched his body as I continued to pray. He was taken for tests and getting ready for surgery. I prayed and wished i was dreaming. My baby, how to my baby and why? We were told he is now a quadriplegic.
Since the accident I never left his sight. 5 months we we’re together from the hospital to being transferred to rehab. It’s been very difficult. It’s a life changer for all of us. But my babe has been positive and maintained his beautiful smile which is contagious. After 5 months we came home. At home the rush to modify to make sure we’re able to have a smooth transition. Thank god we’ve been able with help to meet his needs at home and manage to care for him meeting his physical needs. Now it’s therapy… 4 times a week plus therapy at home plus school work. He is busy and gets tired. But he is DETERMINED. We now need help. Trying to raise money for stem cell therapy which can help his motor skills and strength. He is only 16 and as a mom I feel he deserves a chance to increase his quality of life. This is and has been very expensive injury; we can’t do this without your help. Any donation will help.
