Musicians collaborate to support their industry though the MusiCares Foundation. Raising money and awareness for artists in need.

Seattle, WA 2/23/15: On March 2, Indie pop band FM Collective is beginning an online crowd funding campaign to raise awareness for the MusiCares program. MusiCares which is run by the Grammys foundation provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need. MusiCares’ services and resources cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies, and each case is treated with integrity and confidentiality. MusiCares also focuses the resources and attention of the music industry on human service issues that directly impact the health and welfare of the music community.

According to Ben Smith, the drummer for the band Heart MusiCares provides a very important service: “Ten years ago I was spinning out on drugs and was lucky enough to get in the loop with MusiCares. They covered the costs of treatment, and that helped me turn away from the downward spiral.”

According to Mike Lucero, FM Collective founder and leader, “since we have started coordinating this fundraiser, we have gotten some great responses and are looking forward to a successful campaign,” Success will be raising $10,000, the amount MusiCares spends to support a single treatment program for drug or alcohol addition..
