London, Live on Kickstarter April 3. Aquanautia, the world’s first travel shorts that instantly keep everything in your pocket dry and are designed to make traveling hassle free, officially launched its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter today.

The genesis of Aquanautia was conceived by Rishi Thornhill while he was travelling in Thailand. He bought a dry bag, which he assumed would keep his stuff dry, and while swimming to an island, it leaked.

“I thought there must be a better way,” said Rishi. “The only thing I had left were the shorts I was standing in and that gave me an idea. If only I could keep everything in my pocket dry.”

Rishi was studying at University of Nottingham, Business school and deferred his last year to pursue his passion. “I’ve learnt more about business with every passing week than I did at university.”

About Aquanautia
Aquanautia shorts are created by travellers for travellers and are designed to give real life solutions to the most painful travel problems.
Aquanautia shorts have an inbuilt waterproof self-sealing pocket, certified to IPX8-30 meters — which means you can take your phone, wallet and passport everywhere you go.

The shorts are packed with features:
· They have the first pocket ever that closes water tight automatically, using strips of neodymium magnets
· Hydrophobic fabric that repels water, and dries six times faster than regular fabrics
· They are made from recycled plastic bottles which helps to reduce plastic pollution in our oceans
· They are designed to look good at all times which means it’s possible to transition between beach and restaurant without changing

Hassle-free
Dry bags are less convenient as you must remember to take them with you, they have to be sealed in exactly the right way and some cannot be submersed. Aquanautia’s shorts have an in-built waterproof pocket with the innovative magnetic closure which is the first in the world that self-seals, providing a fool-proof, fumble-free way of protecting your valuables.

Protect your phone
Water resistant phones are becoming popular, but the common misconception is that they’re waterproof. And whilst a splash or dip in fresh water may be fine, the reality is that you’re more likely to be in the sea or a pool where salt or chlorinated water can quickly corrode your phone according to androidauthority.com.

Recycled from plastic bottles
Aquanautia Experts predict that by 2050 the plastic in the ocean will weigh more than all the fish. Eight million tonnes of plastic are dumped in the sea every single year and our oceans are getting more and more polluted.

23 year old Aquanautia founder, Rishi Thornhill, said “it’s not enough to just recycle plastic, it’s a huge problem. There really needs to be innovative uses for the plastic that’s already out there.” 92% of the fabric used in Aquanautia’s shorts is made from recycled plastic bottles.

Theft on holiday
A recent eShores survey found that 80% of people lose, forget or have something stolen when they are on holiday, and the study advised keeping valuables close by. However this is not so easy to do in the water… until now.

The neodymium magnets used in the pockets are compatible for use with phones. They are the strongest permanent magnets on the planet.
The closure system uses Gooper patented technology.

Aquanautia shorts are available in multiple colours and sizes and can be pre-ordered from today.

The shorts will retail for $250 but during the Kickstarter campaign can be bought for $99.

The Kickstarter goes live on the 3rd of April.
