Los Angeles, California (October 17, 2013) playsets, a new iPad app that replaces maps and miniatures for tabletop roleplaying games, launched a kickstarter campaign today. A new way to play RPGs remotely, playsets focuses on social storytelling and ease of use.

Real time movement of characters, animated status effects, actions, and emotes create multiple levels of communication and a more immersive experience. It feels like your friends are there with you, even if they are thousands of miles away.

The playsets team believes you should spend more time playing with your friends than your app settings, so there are no game mechanics built into playsets. It can be used with any rule system. playsets utilizes customizable, isometric environments to give users inspiring worlds to play in with minimal preparation.

The kickstarter campaign is attempting to raise $30,000 by Saturday, November 16th, 2013. Funding will go towards development, through a beta period and launch to the public. If the launch is successful, playsets will be free to download with purchasable content for richer customization.

Playsets makes long distance gaming a reality. It is developed by a small, talented team, who is now looking to the kickstarter community for support. You can view their Kickstarter page here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/985647565/playsets-the-future-of-social-storytelling
