PHOENIX – Sep, 2013 — In just 7 days, FilterWatch, an unique yet powerful home automation sensor, has reached the finals of a competition put on by Philips Innovation Fellows and hosted on the crowd site IndieGoGo.
FilterWatch aims to lower your energy bills and make the in-door air you breathe healthier. This unique sensor monitors the air flow going into your HVAC system, when the flow is reduced by a specific percentage, a notification will occur. Slow air flow renders the filtering capability of your HVAC system useless and also means your system will run longer to cool or heat your home.
Campaigns that met strict requirements of supporting living well, being healthy and enjoying life were allowed to enter the competition.
To reach the finals and be considered for one of the top 5 prizes, a campaign must get 100 unique backers and reach 50% of their funding goal. FilterWatch reached that goal is just 7 days.
“We had great opening response to our product and as we educate the public on the impact of not changing their dirty air filters in a timely fashion, we expect the response to be even greater.”, says Pollock. “Winning one of the four $10,000 prizes would be a nice start to our business but winning the top prize of $60,000 is our target.”
Campaigns have until Sept. 30 to reach the minimum goal to be considered for the final prizes. The 5 prize winners will be selected on October 15th and the top prize will be awarded on Oct 30th.
