Hardcore underground artist talks about his new alternative comics project; PUNK ROCK COMICS: “It’s for all ages, but that doesn’t mean I am ‘toning it down’! This may be the most over the top comic I have ever done. It’s a mash up of everything I love about comics, from giant Kaiju battles to busty black cowgirls- and yes Sheriff Judy and Summer Sky from my Crimson Gash stories are in it battling a wax museum full of monsters and yes Summer did bring her baseball bat wrapped with barbwire!”
As to the name Rey says this; “I was one of the original punk rockers back in the seventies. I saw the Suicide Commandos warm up for Iggy Pop- tickets $6.50 day of the show!-on his Lust for Life tour and it changed my life. I saw the original Ramones tour for Rocket To Russia and countless other shows. I became a fixture at the Longhorn Saloon which was Minneapolis’ version of CBGBs. This comic is not about music, it’s about capturing the wild and reckless anything goes feeling of the punk era on paper. A daunting task but one that drives me forward into ever more outrageous comic pages!”
