For the past several months, the crew at Fameless Quarterly has been working tirelessly on issue nine, entitled PLEASURE. PLEASURE features: a long form interview chronicling a day in the life of artist and activist Tatyana Fazlalizadeh, an incredible feature with collage artist Zoe Ligon, a visual diary of Cecilia Doan’s (Shit Fashion Bloggers Wear) essential items that get her through the day, and a look inside the home of a former illustrator for the Museum of Natural History and current founder of Beetle and Flor, Christina Facella. It is nearly ready to be printed and shipped.

“The value of art nowadays are put there to serve the interests of the so called, ‘gatekeepers.’ We felt it was necessary to create something that would recognize emerging and underrated talent from all around the world,” says Brian Felix, Editor in Chief. “I’m thrilled about the artists we’re featuring in PLEASURE. This is the most amazing issue we’ve produced thus far; we’re just about done with design, and we just need this final piece to complete the project.”

The PLEASURE Issue will be the biggest issue yet and Fameless Quarterly is seeking the support of their friends and followers to take this amazing issue to print. Their goal of $10,000 is going towards print and ongoing distribution. Fameless Quarterly is a tactile representation of the brightest unrecognized art. Their contributors put a great deal of time and effort into the stories and art they create, and the best way for people to experience that work is to make it tangible. As of last year, 91% of adults read print magazines according to the Association of Magazine Media. Long form stories are best suited for a format that people engage with for extended periods of time, and that’s exactly where Fameless Quarterly falls. The money raised on Kickstarter will in part allow them to pay the printing press and bring this forthcoming issue into fruition. The PLEASURE issue has 200 pages of goodness, and it’s their biggest issue yet. While Fameless Quarterly is currently stocked at Book Culture, McNally Jackson, and Soho News International, the Kickstarter will push them to that next level by expanding their reach and put more issues with more content in front of more art geeks like you!
