Fall of Gods is an illustrated book inspired by Norse mythology, following Vali, a warrior haunted by his past, but who has found peace in the arms of a woman. For years he has lived far from society, tending to his farm and trying to forget the battles he fought and the crimes he committed. But one day his love disappears, and he must set out to find her.

Fall of Gods is all about love for Norse heritage. It’s made with a desire to reinvent the mythology and come up with a new and exiting story that captures the essence of the brutal world within the old north. It unfolds in a fantastic universe inspired by Scandinavian nature, with an epic scale and inherent drama. This hardcover book will be anchored by detailed illustrations on each page.

Rasmus Berggreen, the creator of Fall of Gods, is also the concept designer and a co-founder of the visual development studio, MOOD, located in Copenhagen Denmark. He has worked for several years as a concept artist for films and games before taking the leap and starting his own studio with fellow artists Jan Ditlev, Christopher Rabenhorst, and Jonas Springborg. The company believes every universe and story can be turned into something unique, that place where story and art meet to make a fantastic experience. As a studio the team has worked on many different projects, like the Hitman franchise, but this time they thought it would be great to get some of their own original ideas out to the world.“I have always wanted to make my own interpretation of Norse mythology and make a book written and illustrated with that special Scandinavian tone. I imagine the Norse universe as brutal, dirty, and powerful, and that is what I want to deliver – that full experience where you have been in the dirt with the protagonist.” – Rasmus Berggreen

The project started out as an open community on Facebook and then as a published project at Behance, where it was very well received with more than 95,000 views and a lot of appreciations. The support from the community convinced the team that more people would like to see this specific take on the Norse mythology, which led up to the Kickstarter campaign.

“Our goal with this project is to create the first volume of the adventures of Vali,” says Berggreen. ”It will be a hardcover book of approximately 80 pages. There will also be extra illustrations covering the world of Fall of Gods. To me it is important that everything is beautifully presented and of a high quality.”

The Kickstarter campaign, which has already raised $16,887, will run until October 22nd, during which time backers can pledge their support to the campaign in exchange for access to exclusive rewards like a digital ebook, a hardcover version of the story, signed art prints, and more.
