Idea:
One rainy afternoon, while catching a glimpse of the city from my window, I felt the urge to be in front of a shining azure sea. And so Eye+ was born.
What is it:
Eye+ presents itself as a real window that can be built into false partitions and/or walls.
It is extremely simple to install because only an electric power supply, a connection to a DVT signal – like a real TV – and an Ethernet connection are needed.
Eye+ is not, however, just an ordinary television.
All TVs reproduce more or less captivating footage thanks to 3D technology and high resolution video (Full HD), but Eye+ offers something more thrilling and engaging.
You will become the directors of what you want to see.
Eye+ uses a simple webcam that can observe the point of view of the person in front of it and change the perspective of the displayed scenario – as if we were standing in front of a real window. If we move to the right, we can see what is hidden behind the left border of the window and vice versa. If we move back we see the objects shrink, and enlarge when we move closer.
You could get in the morning and see the Golden Gate Bridge or the Eiffel Tower through your window; in moments of relaxation the view of a waterfall or the hot sun rising over a golden beach.
You will be immersed completely in your virtual reality, even hearing the flow of a river and birdsong.
Eye+ is not only a captivating game, but also an important home automation platform, useful in both home and commercial environments, such as offices and shops.
It can be used to switch on lights in your home, a Hi-Fi system, the air-conditioning or even to raise electric shutters – all thanks to Eye+ and its peripheral modules 4I, 4O and 2I2O. All this is possible not only with any Android smartphone or iPhone, but also with a remote via an Ethernet connection.
How it works:
Eye+ is a hardware/software system comprising 5 principle components :
• Eye+SBC
• Eye+Logic
• Modules 4I / 4O / 2I2O
• Eye+Socket
• Eye+xChassis
1) Eye+SBC
It is a single board computer (SBC) with the following characteristics :
– Processor ARM9 1Ghz, 1GB DDR2 RAM
– WLan/Bluetooth
– 10/100 Ethernet
– SD/MMC reader
– Audio in/out
– HDMI out
– USB 2.0
– Power supply 5Vdc
2) Eye+Logic
It represents the true ‘heart’ of the Eye+ architecture.
It allows the user to create programmable scenarios, both according to the time of day and the person’s presence in the room.
As such, it is possible to switch on a certain light at a pre-set time of the day and/or on a pre-set day with or without a person’s presence.
It is also possible to decide which scenarios to display according to the time.
This software allows you to configure all peripheral modules connected to Eye+ (4I, 4O, 2I2O), associating each button or switch to the following actions:
– Switch on / Switch off
– Switch on / Switch off with timer
– Switch on / Switch off via iPhone or Android Smartphone
– Switch on / Switch off by remote via Ethernet
Available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
3) 4I / 4O / 2I2O
These are the peripheral modules of Eye+ that physically switch on or off the various connected loads(lights, Hi-Fi, fans, motors, air-conditioning, etc.)
They are inserted in normal recessed boxes used in both the European and American markets.
Three configurations are available :
– 4I : This can only read 4 indifferently and completely programmable combined switches and/or buttons .
– 4O : This can switch on/off up to 4 devices connected to mains voltage, such as lights, Hi-Fi systems, fans, air-conditioning, electric shutters, etc. Each output can manage up to 1000W.
– 2I2O : This is a hybrid module that can both connect 2 switched and/or buttons and control two mains voltage outputs.
Eye+ is a system that communicates with its peripheral modules (4I, 4O, 2I2O) both via a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connection and an iPhone or Android smartphone.
The system can also be remote-controlled via an internet connection thanks to its own integrated web server.
4) Eye+Socket
Eye+Socket is the first true affordable, easy to use Smart Socket Adapter.
No install needed, it fits perfectly in a Eye+ system or it can be used as a stand-alone device. Doesn’t need any cabling, just plug it in a socket you want to control, it’s plug and play!
Did you have any electric socket you want to automatize? Did you like to remote switch on and off some electric devices even automatically or from your smartphone, table, pc? 5) Eye+xChassis
It is the container- structure in which the full HD 32” – 60” TV, SBC, webcam and AC power supply can be housed. It is a very important component in the Eye+ system because it allow to a very good installation in your room.
