An exhibition meant to rekindle the relationship between Art & Fashion, by showcasing reflections of customers’ personalities
Young designer Luiza Racovita found inspiration in butterflies as she was working on a fashion collection for her MA thesis, obtained at the Arts College, in Bucharest (Romania). Butterflies became a study object for a collection of dresses and shoes and a line of unique hand-painted t-shirts. Its success on the market turned Luiza’s attention towards her clients’ preferences and personalities and she took things a bit farther.
Combining colors and techniques, she started creating unique objects (interior design, paintings, decorations) and pieces of clothing, according to the personality of each customer. The result is a mixture between butterfly-inspired art realized with a diversified display of colors, patterns and textures and a very personal, custom-made industry.
“What I really want from this project is to encourage my customers to go back to the days when people had clothes made for their unique selves. It was always the pieces of clothing that took the shape of each person and not the person that embodies an already-set image, like it happens in mass fashion nowadays. I extended this idea to interior design, object-making and painting. The result is a mix between my customer’s personality and my artistic vision.” (Luiza Racovita).
Now living in Melbourne, Florida, Luiza recently launched her project on Kickstarter. It’s the first modern solution for a young artist/entrepreneur to raise funds for a dream project. The amount she needs for putting together an exhibition, while also honouring the backers’ rewards and creating a website for further orders raises to 75.000$. Kickstarter campaigns operate under an all-or-nothing funding model, if the project doesn’t reach its goal in the remaining 22 days, Luiza will not receive any amount.
