At NAnaco Men, we found out why men, more often than women, wear ill-fitting rings.
Did you know when you size for a ring, there’s more to consider than the diameter of your finger?
4 Variables to consider:
1. KNUCKLE SIZE
Men have larger knuckles than women. The size difference between the finger and the knuckle can vary anywhere from a half size to three whole sizes.
2. BAND’S WIDTH
Men typically wear bands that are thicker in width than women. The wider the band, the smaller it feels on your finger.
3. INTERIOR SHAPE
The available ring shapes of rings do not equal in size. A comfort fit ring may feel, on average, one whole size larger than a standard fit ring.
4. BODY TEMPERATURE
Changes in body temperature can cause fingers to shrink and expand.
Current options for rings are outdated and overdue for a solution.
When it comes to rings, one thing is for sure: size matters. Today, we use everything from adjustable sizers to measuring tapes, only to leave you with inaccurate readings.
Not all ring fits are made equal. Depending on the interior fit, sizes are not true to the measured size. A comfort fit ring typically fits around one size larger while a standard fit ring fits one size smaller than the diameter specified in the Official International Ring Size Chart.
Meet ERGO FITâ„¢ Interior, our patent pending solution. The ERGO FITâ„¢ interior is engineered to respond to the ergonomics of your finger for a functional design. The design takes on an asymmetrical interior design that possesses a function that is directional. Our solution for a better fitting ring oversees all notable issues from previous models and takes into account all the variables that determine a ring size.
At NAnaco Men, we aim to explore the possibilities of extending this function to everyday wearable designs. And more so, the idea of how something so traditional, like a ring, can be transformed to accommodate the contours of our bodies in order to produce a perfect fit and new standard of excellence within the realm of men’s jewelry.
As designers with an architectural background, we often discuss the functionality of buildings and their intended forms used to derive spaces and purpose. Working with designs of various scales, ranging from auditoriums to custom furniture pieces, we often ask ourselves how designs can mediate to the ergonomics of the human body, particularly because we inhabit them.
Mistakenly categorized solely as an accessory item, a ring holds much more weight than a simple fashion statement. In fact, it serves as an expression and statement of oneself, and for many, it symbolizes eternity and promise. But a ring, an integral part of our daily lives, also has a function- so then why is it not designed for one?
Clothing has evolved to be performative, but jewelry has not. Until now. Check out our Kickstarter campaign to help transform the way jewelry can be worn.
