After successfully launching the London- based Media Platform, Enjoyneer is now looking to take its mission of inspiring and supporting the next generation of makers to the next level. It all started with the founder Sandeep’s experiences in the engineering industry and how he felt the industry lacked a sense of compassion to help those most in need. He knew something needed to be done.
In search of his purpose in life, travelling the world and experiencing suffering first-hand, he came up with Enjoyneer. Like with most big ideas, it often takes one final push to make it a reality. In Sandeep’s case, it was a near-death experience that helped him gain perspective. After being chased by angry Eastern European football hooligans and suffering a head injury, all he could remember thinking was: ’It is not their fault. They are only victims to their circumstances.’
Merely taking a stance of compassion and kindness over blame, has changed his entire life. And with that the ideas started flowing- Enjoyneer started to form itself into a vehicle to build a community around the idea of shaping a better tomorrow.
His vision for Enjoyneer is made up of 3 phases:
Phase 1- Enjoyneer will report on the most game-changing innovations that individuals and organisations have come up with to make a positive difference in our world.
Phase 2- After they have raised awareness and inspired a community to come together, Enjoyneer is going to take action. They will launch their Innovation Lab, so they can start working on ideas to tackle some of our global challenges.
Phase 3- Deploy inventions and Grow to the Largest Media Platform for the next generation of Makers
Charles Darwin once said:
“In the long history of humankind (and animal kind, too) those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed.”
In other words, if we want to create a better world, we’ll need to work towards it together. And engineering will lie at the heart of many of the changes necessary for this better future.
To begin to fully appreciate what engineering may be able to do for the future of our world, we only need to look at some of the numerous challenges that we’re facing today. Consider the following:
-The world’s population is expected to increase by 2 billion over the next twenty years. 95% of that growth is likely to occur in underdeveloped or currently developing countries
-By 2050, we must produce 60% more food than we currently do
– 800 million people do not have access to clean and safe water worldwide and 1 in 3 people, or 2.4 billion, are without improved sanitation facilities. Poor water and sanitation conditions in developing countries cause 80% of illnesses
– in 2030 the number of people still without electricity, is to be as high as 1.2 billion
-Each year, renewable resource contribution to the energy grid increases steadily, and it’s estimated that global input from renewable resources will reach 26% by 2020.
-The manufacturing industry is and has always been the most significant contributor to global pollution – China alone produces more than 35 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide every year.
-By 2050, we must produce 60% more food than we currently do
