New York City’s Multi-Media Project, “Elsewhere” launches campaign on Indiegogo.com to create the feature film.
New York, NY (4/30/14) – On April 17, 2014, Elsewhere NYC, in partnership with Believe Theatrical, presented the LA premiere of ‘Elsewhere’ at play 1018 (1018 South Santa Fe Ave, Los Angeles, CA). This premier marked the launch of a crowdsourced fundraising campaign to turn Elsewhere into a feature film.
Developed in Downtown NYC and Brooklyn,‘Elsewhere’ is a multi-media ensemble piece written and directed by New York native Nick Vergara. The screenplay tells the story of the years we spend struggling to find our true identity, our fully realized self, condensed into one night in New York City. One city block plays home to 5 interconnected stories exploring the phases we grow through in our yearning to get elsewhere and the unspoken, universal bond these hardships create between us.‘Elsewhere’ premiered as a theatrical production in April 2013 at the Kraine Theater in the East Village to a sold out house and, along with the original cast, has since developed into a multimedia project during its residency at Culturefix in the Lower East Side. The team is eyeing production for the feature film adaption as early as September.
