The Duo Coffee Steeper has raised over $80,000, gained over 1,000 backers and continues to build momentum by the hour.
San Francisco, California – The project started with a few simple questions: Can we design a product that incorporates the best features of both a French press and a pour-over? Can we design a product that makes it easy to brew ridiculously good coffee at home? After eight months and over 50 prototypes later the answer to both those questions turned out to be yes and the Duo Coffee Steeper – a dual chamber “twist” on a traditional French press – was born.
Now, Duo has an answer to an all-important third question: Do coffee lovers want this? After launching their innovative product on Kickstarter – they got their answer: yes!
In only nine days Duo Coffee Steeper blew past its 40-day Kickstarter goal, raising over $50,000. To date, Duo has raised over $80,000, including from more than 1,000 backers from around the world. And both numbers grow by the hour as new people learn about Duo (and watch their hilarious Kickstarter video).
“This all started with a simple concept and we worked to create something new that we thought coffee lovers would enjoy,” said Jake Miller, the founder of Duo. “The outpouring response so far as been great and we are excited as we pick up more support by the day.”
The Duo Coffee Steeper makes it easy to brew ridiculously good coffee at home. Combining the best elements of a traditional pour-over and French press makes Duo:
•Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to love. Basically, you don’t have to be a skilled barista to make this sucker sing.
•Ridiculously Good means a big full-bodied cup of coffee without any sludge. The power of a French press with the crispness of a pour-over. Oh, and complete control over the extraction time.
How Duo Works:
•Dual chamber: Duo’s patent-pending dual chamber design completely separates the coffee grounds from the coffee to prevent over extraction
•Two-stage filter: Duo worked with a Stanford PhD candidate to test over 60 different filter combinations. The two-stage filter allows for a big full-bodied cup of coffee without any sludge in the cup.
“If you like terrible coffee, then Duo isn’t for you. Stop reading about Duo right now and go watch an episode of Glee,” said Miller. “But if you consider yourself a patron of the arts, a supporter of innovation, and a lover of a fine cup of joe, then Duo is for you.”
