Greenville, SC (March 22,2014) – Just in time for outdoor summer fun, DRVN, an upstate South Carolina based company is launching a crowdfunding campaign to bring the first portable outdoor movie theater to the upstate. With the help of indiegogo.com, DRVN is raising $9,500 to build a new local entertainment option. In return for donations, customers can get a wide range of gifts including: t-shirts, stickers, posters, movie tickets, private showings, and much more.

DRVN’s owner and founder Rich Gregory, has over 10 years in digital arts as well as lifetime of fandom for cinema and popular culture. DRVN in the upstate, hopes to create a movie experience that offers affordability, fanfare, and quality entertainment.

At the launch of DRVN, the focus is to offer a unique mixture of the traditional drive-in, grindhouse, and traditional cinema. Using a fundamental yet effective formula of an inflatable screen and a projector; this versatility gives DRVN the ability to format themselves into amphitheaters, parking lots, and parks. Although the presentation is simple, the creativity in which DRVN develops themed events is a complex equation that is handled craft-fully by DRVN’s event team.

Portability is another feature which DRVN uses well as their minimal setup allows DRVN to pick locations in multiple upstate cities and rotate weekends in each city. Greenville is the dominant market but DRVN is also looking at Anderson, Clemson, and Easley as other potential travel destinations.

The motivational goal of DRVN is to re-format the traditional drive-in for the 21st century, offering creative and unique features, great food, and drinks (including craft beer). DRVN pays close attention to what movies and themes are popular by patrons, while also introducing viewers to unique movies not seen much by general audiences.

The movie will be shown either as a theatrical new release or as a carefully picked older film. DRVN’s film selection is based on a series of themes (“Date Night”, “Family Night”, “Fan Vote”, “Guys Night”, “Girls Night”, “Cult Classics”, etc.) that offer fun and a new experience. Custom themes like, “Sing-Along”, “Text-Bomb Theater”, and “Quote-Along” gets the audience involved in the movie and turns the crowd into a party-like atmosphere.

Community plays an important role in DRVN’s future. Ticket price is the number one reason traditional movie-goers bypass the theater. For a family of four, a normal evening at the movies can cost close to one hundred dollars. At DRVN, there is an emphasis on creating a quality product at an affordable price. In addition to ticket prices, DRVN offers many items to keep as souvenirs. From giveaway items to limited movie posters, stickers, and T-Shirts; DRVN keeps the community in mind.
